At SmartKids Ghana, our Student Ambassadors bring not only knowledge but also a passion for making learning meaningful and inspiring. One such ambassador is Saira Lange, a dedicated high school student at Belmont High School, entering 12th grade.
From an early age, Saira demonstrated a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring. Between the ages of 13 and 15, she even ran her own tutoring business, advertising on her school’s bulletin boards and working with about five different students. Her tutoring covered a range of subjects whether it was reading stories in German, preparing for math exams, or tackling physics homework. These early experiences shaped her love for guiding others in their learning journeys.
Beyond her personal tutoring efforts, Saira has also dedicated two years to serving as a junior mentor with Science Club for Girls, a nonprofit organization that introduces young girls to science through hands-on experiments. Every Saturday, Saira met virtually on Zoom with girls ages 6 to 14, walking them through science activities on topics like fossils, architecture, and even how germs spread. She not only explained the “how” of the experiments but also helped the girls connect their activities to real-world science. For Saira, these sessions became the highlight of her week.
Now, Saira is bringing her passion for mentorship and education to SmartKids Ghana’s Zoom Program. She believes strongly in the mission of equipping Ghanaian scholars with technological and financial literacy, calling it a “positive message” that prepares the next generation for the future. In her own words:
“I think technology is going to be such a big part of our lives and it is vital that we the next generation know how to use it to solve modern-day issues, like climate change.”
With her background in tutoring, mentoring, and hands-on STEM education, Saira is perfectly positioned to inspire and empower SmartKids Ghana scholars. We are thrilled to welcome her to our teaching team and look forward to seeing the creativity, curiosity, and care she will bring to every classroom session.
