Spotlighting Zoom Teacher: Ishaan Vitthala

At SmartKids Ghana, we believe that the best teachers are not only those who share knowledge but also those who inspire confidence and hope. One of our  Zoom Teachers, Ishaan Vitthala, a 9th grader at Marquette High School, embodies this spirit.

Ishaan already has strong teaching experience, having tutored math at Kumon and Eye Level at advanced levels. He has also taught biology to younger students, building a foundation of patience, clarity, and leadership in education. His dedication to helping others understand challenging concepts reflects a natural talent for teaching.

Though he did not grow up in Ghana, Ishaan deeply understands what it means to face limited resources in school. Raised in India, he remembers sitting in classrooms where the tools weren’t always the best and where not everyone believed in his potential. What made the difference for him were the teachers who cared,  those who saw something in him even when circumstances made learning difficult.

“Growing up in India, I had teachers who changed my life not because they had the best tools, but because they cared. Their belief in me lit a spark that has never gone out,” Ishaan shares.

That spark is what now drives him to give back. Ishaan wants to be a voice of encouragement for scholars in Ghana, showing them that their potential is limitless. For him, teaching is not just about solving equations or explaining science, it’s about giving hope, building confidence, and letting every child know they matter, no matter where they come from.

In addition to teaching, Ishaan is also taking on the ambassador fundraising challenge. Each Zoom teacher has a fundraising goal of $250 that supports transportation, logistics, and learning resources for scholars. Ishaan has embraced this responsibility, knowing that every contribution helps create opportunities for scholars who deserve the best education possible.

We are excited to welcome Ishaan to the SmartKids Ghana family. With his passion for teaching, personal journey, and heart for mentorship, he will inspire our scholars to dream bigger and believe in themselves.
