SmartKids Ghana is excited to welcome Lubna Trisha, a 12th grader at Thomas A. Edison CTE High School, as one of our passionate Zoom teachers. Lubna’s story reflects her deep commitment to both education and community service, with a special focus on health awareness and literacy.
From an early age, Lubna has been dedicated to helping others learn. She has tutored children in her community, ages 10 to 15, providing support in math, science, and English, while also guiding students at her mosque with Arabic memorization. As a member of the National Science Honor Society, she extended her impact by tutoring peers in chemistry, demonstrating both academic excellence and a willingness to uplift others.
Lubna’s leadership extends beyond academics. She is the founder of QueensHealthVoices, an Instagram based passion project where she hosts webinars on topics such as eczema, mental health, and other teen health issues. Through this initiative, she has become a trusted voice for youth seeking reliable health education, particularly in areas that are often overlooked in traditional school systems.
Her motivation to teach with SmartKids Ghana comes from her own lived experiences as an immigrant in New York. While grateful for the opportunities her education has provided, Lubna recognized gaps in topics such as sexual education, mental health, and stress management areas where young people desperately need support. These experiences inspired her not only to support her peers in Queens but also to extend her impact globally by teaching Ghanaian scholars.
Lubna’s compassion is also rooted in her personal life. She has helped her mother manage diabetes by setting up insulin pumps and medical devices, fueling her desire to ensure others receive better care and education around health. Volunteering in hospitals and doctor’s offices further deepened her understanding of health challenges and strengthened her resolve to serve.
Through SmartKids Ghana, Lubna hopes to expand her passion for education and health literacy beyond her local community, empowering scholars in Ghana with knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive. Her journey is a powerful reminder that teaching is more than sharing information; it’s about changing lives and building healthier, stronger communities across the globe.
We are proud to have Lubna as part of the SmartKids Ghana family, and we can’t wait to see the incredible impact she makes on our scholars.
