At Bishop Fenwick High School, senior Joni Caron has always been someone who leads with compassion, empathy, and purpose. Whether helping her classmates understand challenging topics or lending a hand to those who need extra support, Joni’s kindness and determination to make a difference truly shine through. Now, as one of the newest SmartKids Ghana volunteer Zoom Teachers, she is taking her passion for education beyond her local community and across continents.

Although Joni hasn’t taught on a large scale before, she brings a wealth of experience from tutoring fellow students and assisting peers through Google Classroom. Her natural ability to connect with others, combined with her patience and strong communication skills, make her a perfect fit for the virtual classroom environment. Joni’s willingness to step outside her comfort zone and take on this global teaching opportunity reflects her courage, adaptability, and genuine heart for service.

When asked why she chose to join SmartKids Ghana, Joni expressed a belief that perfectly captures the spirit of our mission:

“I believe in making a difference in society, and everyone deserves an equal opportunity to learn. Students in Ghana should be able to get the same education as students in other countries, and if I can even make a small difference, I know that would mean a lot to them.”

This simple yet powerful statement reflects Joni’s global mindset and her understanding that education is one of the most impactful ways to empower others. Her commitment goes beyond teaching, it’s about creating bridges of understanding and opportunity that unite young people around the world.
