SmartKids Ghana, in partnership with HRdbyAbenah, successfully hosted the 2-Day Career Opportunity Summit, a transformative initiative designed to equip students and early-career professionals with the skills, confidence, and clarity needed to thrive in today’s competitive professional landscape. The program was hosted at Garden City University, located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Spanning two immersive days, the summit combined expert-led sessions, interactive workshops, and practical exercises to prepare participants for meaningful career growth and all the sessions were led by Mrs. Emma Kusi.
During the Day 1 session which dealt with “Laying The Foundations For Career Success”, the key focus areas were:
- Career Vision Mapping & SMART Goal Setting – Define clear, actionable career goals aligned with personal strengths and aspirations.
- Resume/CV & Cover Letter Development – Learn to craft professional, compelling application materials.
- Interview Techniques Using the STAR Method – Gain confidence in articulating experiences and skills during interviews.
- Public Speaking & Communication Skills – Enhance clarity, confidence, and professional presence.
We had some interactive activities such as:
- Vision Board Mini-Workshop
- Interview Simulation
- Elevator Pitch Practice
Participants left Day 1 with practical tools to set clear goals, present themselves effectively, and confidently navigate the early stages of their career journey.
The Day 2 focused on “ Building Personal Brand, Networks & Leadership Skills”. And the key focus areas are:
- Personal Branding & Digital Presence – Develop an authentic and compelling professional identity online.
- Networking Strategies for Career Advancement – Learn to cultivate meaningful professional connections.
- Leadership Development & Emotional Intelligence – Build self-awareness, empathy, and leadership skills for long-term success.
We had fun interactive activities and they are as follows:
- Personal Branding Workshop
- Networking Role-Play
- Leadership Reflection Exercise
Day 2 empowered participants to strengthen their professional image, expand their networks, and cultivate leadership qualities essential for career growth.
