This past December, we had the honor of welcoming Louisa Agyemang, a dedicated advocate for education, to Ghana. Her visit was a testament to the shared commitment to transforming lives through education. Louisa’s journey was filled with meaningful moments that strengthened the mission of SmartKids Ghana.

Journey to the Volta Region: A Meeting with Chiefs and Queens

The highlight of Louisa’s visit was our trip to the Volta Region, where she joined us in meeting the esteemed chiefs and queens of the local community (Dzogborve). The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the land the community had generously offered for the construction of a learning center, a key milestone in SmartKids Ghana’s mission.

The community’s welcome was both vibrant and heartfelt, complete with traditional drumming and speeches that underscored the importance of education. Louisa’s presence added a profound layer of inspiration as she shared her vision for the center and expressed gratitude for the community’s partnership. The dialogue was filled with hope and determination, cementing the foundation for an impactful collaboration.

Team Dinners Which Helped Build Connections

Louisa also had the opportunity to join the SmartKids Ghana team for a series of team dinners. These gatherings were more than just meals, they were moments of connection and reflection. Over delicious Ghanaian dishes, we shared stories, laughter, and ideas for advancing the mission. These dinners reinforced the sense of collective purpose that drives our work.

Teaching at Esaase Methodist Primary School

Louisa’s time in Ghana culminated in a visit to Esaase Methodist Primary School, where she had the chance to teach and engage with scholars. Her interactive lessons captivated the scholars, sparking enthusiasm for learning. Louisa’s dedication to nurturing young minds was evident in every moment, leaving a lasting impression on the scholars and teachers alike.The lesson was crafted with the needs of the scholars in mind.

Visiting the New Office Space in Parkoso, Kumasi Ghana

During her visit, Louisa also toured the new SmartKids Ghana office in Parkoso, Kumasi. The office represents a significant step forward for our operations, providing a dedicated space for planning, collaboration, and community outreach. Louisa’s visit to the office was both inspiring and motivational. She commended the team on creating a functional and welcoming environment that will serve as a hub for educational innovation. Her feedback and encouragement reinforced the importance of having a strong foundation to support our mission.

 

Helping with Staff Teaching Training

Louisa’s commitment to education was further demonstrated during her active participation in the staff teaching training sessions.
