SmartKids Ghana is excited to welcome Ward Zimmerman, a 12th grader at Concord Carlisle High School, as one of our dedicated Zoom teachers.
Ward brings a wealth of teaching and mentoring experience. As a counselor for rising first graders in the Explore Summer Program, he helped students explore the wonders of science, music, art, cooperative games, and physical education. His passion for education also took him abroad, spending a week in Costa Rica, where he supported elementary students with math lessons and gained firsthand insight into the power of education in diverse communities.
Ward first learned about SmartKids Ghana while attending the Harvard HMS MEDscience program, where he connected with Emma and discovered our mission to provide Ghanaian scholars with access to technology and 21st-century skills. Inspired by this vision, Ward is eager to join us in bridging the digital divide.
For Ward, teaching is more than just sharing knowledge, it’s about equipping scholars with technological literacy, an essential tool for success in today’s world. He believes that while many of us take access to technology for granted, helping scholars in Ghana gain these skills can transform their futures and open doors to new opportunities.
Beyond teaching, Ward has also shown his commitment to the cause by successfully recruiting another Zoom teacher to join our mission helping expand the impact of SmartKids Ghana even further.
We are thrilled to have Ward on board and look forward to the impact he will make as he shares knowledge, builds connections, and helps empower the next generation of leaders.
