Spotlight on Fiona Peltonen – Driving Change for SmartKids Ghana

At SmartKids Ghana, we believe that education is the key to unlocking opportunities and building brighter futures. But education cannot reach children on its own. It takes dedicated people, reliable resources, and the ability to connect with scholars wherever they are. This is why we are incredibly honored to spotlight Fiona Peltonen, who has stepped forward to help us tackle one of our most pressing challenges: transportation.

Fiona is currently fundraising $500 to support the purchase of a bus that will serve as vital transportation for our staff. For many of our teachers and program leaders, reaching our scholars means traveling long distances, often without dependable transport. This not only limits how many communities we can serve but also makes it difficult to maintain consistent teaching schedules. A bus will change that. It will allow our dedicated staff to travel safely and efficiently, extend our reach, and ensure more children in underserved areas gain access to education and mentorship.

By championing this cause, Fiona isn’t just raising money she’s helping us build a bridge of access. Each dollar she raises moves us closer to ensuring that no child is left behind simply because of distance. Her effort reflects a deep understanding that education is not only about classrooms and books, but also about the systems that make learning possible.

We celebrate Fiona not only for her fundraising effort but also for the heart and vision she has brought to this cause. Her commitment shows that impact doesn’t always start in the classroom, sometimes it starts with the wheels that get us there.

“Every mile covered brings us closer to unlocking a child’s potential. Together, we can drive change and build futures.” – Fiona Peltonen

We are truly grateful for Fiona’s determination to make a difference. With her support, our team will soon be able to go the extra mile quite literally  to bring quality education and hope to more scholars.
