SmartKids Ghana is excited to welcome Matthew Sserebe, a Grade 10 student from Lexington Christian Academy, as one of our newest Zoom teachers. Matthew joins our global teaching community with a clear sense of purpose, a strong academic background, and a genuine desire to invest in the future of children through education.
Matthew brings prior tutoring experience to his role. During the summer of 2024, he volunteered as a tutor with BGCM, where he supported multiple students in Algebra I, working with an average of three learners per session. In the following spring, he continued serving by assisting another student with schoolwork as needed. These experiences strengthened his ability to explain concepts clearly, adapt to different learning needs, and patiently support students’ academic growth.
He is also well-versed in virtual learning environments. For both tutoring roles, Matthew taught using Zoom, giving him hands-on experience with online instruction, student engagement, and digital classroom tools. This familiarity positions him well to connect effectively with scholars through SmartKids Ghana’s Zoom Teaching Program.
Matthew’s motivation to join SmartKids Ghana is deeply rooted in his belief in education as a foundation for long-term success. He is passionate about helping children gain skills and knowledge that will empower them later in life. After attending a SmartKids Ghana information session and learning more about the organization’s mission, he felt inspired to become part of a movement that creates meaningful educational impact across communities.
As a first-time volunteer with SmartKids Ghana, Matthew has also committed to supporting the mission beyond teaching by actively participating in the $300 fundraising campaign on Zeffy Here is the link to his fundraising form (Matthew’s Fundraising Link). His willingness to engage fully through teaching, fundraising, and curriculum implementation reflects a strong sense of responsibility and integrity.
Matthew has formally affirmed his understanding of the expectations of his role, including the completion of teaching responsibilities, fundraising participation, and curriculum delivery. This level of commitment speaks to his maturity and dedication as a young leader.
We are proud to welcome Matthew Sserebe to the SmartKids Ghana family. His academic strengths, virtual teaching experience, and passion for service make him a valuable addition to our Zoom Teaching Program.
