Our Mission & Vision.
Our Focus Areas
Critical Thinking & Problem-solving
We host workshops that teach students a 21st-century life skill. Every child in Ghana between the ages of 8-18 can benefit from the scheme. SmartKids Ghana provides the necessary tools and resources to educate the children on how to enhance their sense of reasoning through problems. We partner with private and government schools in Ghana. We give students the building blocks of critical thinking and problem-solving. We also train them on how to approach problems strategically and practically to arrive at a solution. We equip them with tools, and creative ideas to evaluate and draw conclusions from evidence which will enable them to think beyond average without being spoon-fed with ideas or answers. Smartkids Ghana prepares students for the future by providing opportunities for them to develop life skills and transferable skills for specific jobs.
Technology Literacy
Technology & Digital Literacy – visiting schools with laptops to teach technology literacy, another 21st-century skill. Every child has the right to digital literacy. Over 90% of schools in Ghana do not have access to computers. They lack basic technology tools such as computers and laptops and other relevant tools that facilitate teaching and learning of I.C.T. We address this problem by taking laptops to schools to educate them. Every school-going child has the desire to have access to Technology & Digital Literacy. This thirst is quenched by the availability of physical access to laptop computers. We ensure students get access to technology education.
Health Literacy
Health Literacy & Disease Prevention – we educate students on health topics, and emergency skills like FIRST AID, CPR, & more to improve health literacy. At the age of 6, 47% of Ghanaian children had deciduous tooth decay. At the age of 12, 36% suffered from caries. Thus caries appeared to be more prevalent at the age of 6 in all regions of Ghana than at the age of 12. Again over 98% of Ghanaians are ignorant of FIRST AID and CPR. Over 90% of people who die before getting to the hospital or late to the hospital most often have less knowledge of the first aid approach which would have saved their life. Lack of knowledge has plunged a lot of people into all kinds of diseases. Dental diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and many others. Smartkids Ghana is always on the trail organizing workshops on Health Literacy & Disease Prevention for children in schools.
