We are delighted to welcome Elsie to the SmartKids Ghana Advisory Board. Her dedication to education, leadership, and student mentorship makes her a valuable addition to our mission of empowering young learners through STEM and academic excellence.
Elsie was born in Accra, Ghana, and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, at the age of eleven. From an early age, she was raised with a strong emphasis on academic discipline and the pursuit of excellence. Her hard work and determination paid off when she graduated as the valedictorian of Olympic High School, earning multiple scholarships that supported her college journey.
She went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she became deeply involved in campus life and leadership. Elsie served her community through several student organizations, including presiding over her chapter of Sigma Alpha Lambda. She also celebrated her cultural roots by participating in an all-girls African dance team, helping to foster community and cultural expression on campus.
Elsie later earned her master’s degree from Case Western Reserve University, where she continued her commitment to education by serving as a teaching assistant. In this role, she mentored first-year students, helping them adjust to college life and encouraging them to pursue academic success.
For the past three years, Elsie has taught intermittently at the college level, sharing her knowledge and passion with students pursuing higher education. She currently teaches 7th-grade STEM, where she inspires young learners to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with curiosity and confidence.
Elsie is honored to join the SmartKids Ghana Advisory Board and is passionate about supporting STEM learning opportunities and mentorship initiatives that empower students to pursue their academic goals. Her experiences as an educator, mentor, and leader will play an important role in helping SmartKids Ghana continue to expand opportunities for young learners.
We are excited to have Elsie join our advisory board and look forward to the impact her insight, dedication, and passion for education will bring to our community.
Please join us in warmly welcoming Elsie to the SmartKids Ghana family.
