At just a young age, Sarah Ali is already proving that leadership is not defined by age, but by compassion, responsibility, and the willingness to make a difference in the lives of others. A 9th-grade student at Westford Academy, Sarah carries a strong passion for education and service, using her skills and experiences to help students grow academically and personally.
Sarah currently works at Kumon, a mathematics and reading program where she tutors up to four children at a time in subjects including math, reading, and writing. Through both in-person and online teaching, she has developed the ability to connect with students patiently and effectively, helping them build confidence in their abilities while creating a supportive learning environment.
Her experience working closely with children has taught her something powerful, education has the ability to shape futures, open doors, and transform lives. More importantly, she understands that not every child is given the same opportunities or resources, and this reality is what inspired her to become a Zoom Teacher with SmartKids Ghana.
Growing up with access to the resources and support she needed, Sarah was raised with the value of giving back to others. She believes deeply that children should never be limited by circumstances they did not choose, and that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream beyond their environment.
For Sarah, joining SmartKids Ghana is more than volunteering, it is a commitment to becoming a source of encouragement, knowledge, and hope for students who deserve to be seen and supported. She understands the importance of having someone who believes in you, and she wants to be that person for the scholars she teaches.
What makes Sarah especially inspiring is her genuine heart for impact. She does not simply want to teach lessons, she wants to help children build brighter futures for themselves. She recognizes that even small moments of encouragement can leave lasting impressions on a child’s life, and she approaches teaching with both empathy and purpose.
Through her work with SmartKids Ghana, Sarah is helping prove that young people can be powerful agents of change. Her dedication to service, education, and uplifting others reflects the kind of leadership that creates real and lasting impact.
At SmartKids Ghana, we are proud to welcome students like Sarah Ali, young leaders who are using their voices, talents, and compassion to help shape a better future for children around the world.
