Every child deserves someone who believes in their potential. For Elvis Nana Opare, becoming a Ghanaian Student Ambassador is more than taking on a volunteer role, it is an opportunity to encourage, mentor, and inspire children to believe in themselves and discover what they are capable of achieving.
Currently a Level 200 BSC Information Technology student at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR), Elvis is passionate about using his time, knowledge, and experiences to create lasting change in the lives of young learners. His motivation is rooted in a simple but powerful belief, every child deserves the opportunity to dream, explore, and thrive. Reflecting on what inspired him to join the SmartKids Ghana Student Ambassador Program, Elvis shares:
“I’ve always been passionate about mentoring children. I believe this is the perfect opportunity to make children smile, help them come out of their shells, and encourage them to explore their potential. Many Ghanaian children are incredibly brilliant, but some lack the support and encouragement they need at home to fully develop their talents. I want to be part of changing that story.” Those words speak volumes about the kind of leader Elvis is becoming. He recognizes that while talent is important, encouragement can often be the difference between a child giving up and a child believing in themselves. Through mentorship and education, he hopes to provide the support that many young learners need to flourish.
His passion for children is backed by meaningful experience. Between 2023 and 2025, Elvis served as a teacher at a basic school in Techiman, where he did far more than teach lessons in the classroom. As the leader of the school’s SBA Committee, he organized engaging and interactive activities that encouraged children to learn through creativity, participation, and exploration. He understood that learning becomes more meaningful when children are given opportunities to express themselves, collaborate with others, and discover their unique strengths.
One of his proudest achievements during this period was identifying talented students within the school and helping them develop their abilities further. Through his guidance and encouragement, two of those students advanced to the finals of a reality competition, an accomplishment that demonstrated the power of believing in young people and giving them opportunities to shine.
Elvis has also had the privilege of teaching STEM to young learners, helping them build curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills at an early age. His experiences have strengthened his conviction that education should not only equip children with knowledge but also inspire confidence, innovation, and a love for lifelong learning.
Beyond the classroom, Elvis brings valuable strengths in teaching, leadership, public speaking, event planning, and administrative support. These qualities enable him to connect with children, collaborate effectively with teams, and contribute meaningfully to initiatives that seek to improve educational outcomes.
His journey reminds us that making a difference does not always require grand gestures. Sometimes, it begins with believing in a child who has never been told they can succeed. It begins with creating opportunities where others see limitations. It begins with choosing to serve.
At SmartKids Ghana, we are proud to have Elvis Nana Opare as part of our Ghanaian Student Ambassador family. His passion for mentorship, commitment to education, and dedication to nurturing young talent embody the values we strive to promote every day.
Thank you, Elvis, for choosing to invest in the next generation. Your willingness to encourage, teach, and uplift young learners is helping shape a future where more children are empowered to dream boldly, discover their gifts, and reach their full potential. We cannot wait to see the many lives you will continue to impact through your service.
